Denise Luxford

Denise caught the bug for performing at a very early age, particularly musical theatre.  She loved the tap and ballet classes which she attended while still very young along with being a part of the drama department at school.  For some years, whilst bringing up her children, she had to take time off from her favourite amateur dramatics hobby but in 2000 and 2001 she took courses in acting and musical theatre which made her realise she had to get back to performing and become part of a group.  Since 2002 she has been a member of BasOp taking part in various productions, mainly as part of the ensemble.  She was absolutely thrilled when in 2013 she got the wonderful part of Miss Hannigan, in BasOp’s sell out production of ‘Annie’ at the Towngate Theatre.  Now to be playing the part of Golde in ‘Fiddler on the Roof ’ is another dream come true.  Being the mother of five children in the show is just ironic; in real life Denise who lives in Westcliff and runs her own hairdressing salon from there, is also the mother of five children so that experience alone will come in very handy.  Denise couldn’t be more grateful to the show’s director Victoria Purton and the musical director Patrick Tucker for the opportunity and guidance in playing this great part in this wonderful musical.  Plus of course to the fantastic team at BasOp for the help and encouragement which makes the whole experience a truly great one.
