Joan has been part of BasOp Since September 1963 and has been in many shows. Some favourite roles that she has performed are Diana in ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’, Prince Orlofsky in ‘Die Fledermaus’ and Mother Abbess in ‘The Sound of Music’. She doesn’t have a specific dream role but her favourite show that she performed in was Die Fledermaus.
Joan was always a very athletic person at school and played Netball which she loved. She was school Captain and played in the centre. Joan loves dancing particularly ballet and also musical theatre but she now restricts herelf to ‘Fit Step’ twice a week at the Laindon Day Centre for over 50’s. Fit step is ballroom and latin dance steps but danced solo and is very energetic so keeps her out of mischief. Joan was also a Brown Owl for some years.  She is married to Terry who is also a member of Basop. They have been married for 50 years. The couple live in Langdon Hills, enjoy railway holidays and have visited most European countries this way. For many years they have enjoyed self catering holidays all over England Wales and Scotland. After leaving school (at 15) Joan worked in many city financial institutions until she retired.   Nowadays she is a lady who lunches!!!!!
